This event has been called ''The Great Cooling of the World'' by players. This seems to be a carryover from Crossroads of Dereth's old timeline. Their source for the name came from Rytheran's original letter, which stated:
<blockquote>''It was during the great Cooling of the World that we arrived.''</blockquote>
The word 'great' not being capitalized would indicate it is not part of the name of the event, but rather an additional description added by Rytheran. Nevertheless, the name stuck.
