Due to the nature of how the Falatacot language was developed, this article is written from an out-of-universe, development perspective.

Original Era

Original Falatacot Era contains words and phrases from release The Shattered Coil story arc.

Eibhil: Translation unknown. It may be a name/proper noun. See Book of Eibhil.

Filinuvekta (pronounced fee-lee-new-vek-ta):'[1] Winds From Darkness[2]

Iä hlatun aune atep: I give this life for love.

Ifistra: Dericost name for Osteth.[3][4] It is possible that this may be a word borrowed from Falatacot.

Ifisveraqu: Dericost name for the Mount Esper range or Mount Esper itself.[3] If Ifistra is a word borrowed from Falatacot, it seems likely that this word is as well, since both began with Ifis-.

Killiakta (pronounced keh-lee-ACK-tuh):[1] Isle of Woe,[3] the Falatacot name for Dereth.

Latzimestal (pronounced lot-ze-MEST-al)"[1] Lords of the World.[2]

Tafelicor: Translation unknown. It may be a name/proper noun. See Heads of Tafelicor.

Uotecatl Ceqt of Nahouhnztl - a Falatacot text which was, for a time, in the possession of the Gelidites in the Lost City of Frore.[5]

Velacixque: Blood-Heart, the Falatacot name for Mount Esper.[3]

Shattered Coil Era

For the Shattered Coil story arc, a new Falatacot language was developed, a dialect which according to Fanzen San the Translator predates the existing texts he had been studying and translating.

Reign of Terror

During the Reign of Terror event, the first Falatacot creatures were introduced: Falatacot Consort, Falatacot Patrician, Falatacot Matriarch, and the Falatacot Abbess. They all had messages upon death:

Falatacot Consort says, "Im vaik av tiu ikni liViliakti."[6]

Falatacot Patrician says, "Im iakvi av tiu ikni Viliakti, Ij fiak kilt zakiik."[7]

Falatacot Patrician says, "Ekta livaik ikti vik ilkian, ia klia livaik ix vik iak."[7]

Falatacot Matriarch says, "Ekta livaik ikti vik ilkian, ia klia livaik ix vik iak."[8]

Falatacot Abbess says, "Kikt viktia ti ikni liViliakti, Ij vaik zikt kta im iak, jakti im iakvi av tiu ikni likik ilkin akti."[9]

From the same Falatacot temple, adventurers recovered the Living Tome. Fanzen San the Translator translated the title of the book as Song Breath Life or Way Song Death.[10]

Visions in the Darkness

During the Visions in the Darkness event, the Search for Gareth Dain quest was introduced, which added more to this new Falatacot dialect.

A new Falatacot, Sister Vitriaka, had the following messages, first upon spawning and second on death:

Sister Vitriaka says, "Ek, taivti Tik Vaiktu Kiktij tiu ikni arkvikt."[11]

Sister Vitriaka says, "Im vaik av tiu ikni liViliakti."[11]

Sister Vitriaka dropped a Scrap of Paper containing just the word Akri, which is translated as the Falatacot command for open.[12][13]

Finally, adventurers recovered a Falatacot Tome. Fanzen was unable to translate most of it, as it appears to be a new dialect of Falatacot,[14] although he also describes the language as being older.[15]

He was able to determine that the text references two groups throughout the writing: Iakvi Liviliakti and Tik Vaiktu Kiktij, which he believes describes two different races. The text is describing a magical process to combine these two races. He was also able to determine that Vitriaka was assisted by a Tik Vaiktu Kiktij, though not the same one used in the ritual. It appears that the Tik Vaiktu Kiktij used died, while the Iakvi Liviliakti lived.[14] Given the context of this quest, the book seems to be describing Gareth Dain's transformation into the Strange Sclavus.

Across the Vast Divide

During the Across the Vast Divide event, the Temple of Ixir Zi was introduced, and more of this new Falatacot dialect was heard. The first came from the Guardian of the Outer Ward:

"Shi vaik tukinti ikni likik ki inki Viliakti, av esk ilti?"

The language is guttural and hard. You do not understand what was asked of you, but you know that it was a question. As it speaks again, a vein of understanding spreads through you.

"Jiktani ekta irntrika to the matron of this temple. Prove to Ixir Zi that you are devout followers of the Watcher. Bring me the sacred gem from this room. Only then will I recognize the work of you and your fellows."

"Once you have completed this challenge you will then need to stay amongst your fellows through the remainder of this temple. I shall grant you entrance into the halls of High Matron Ixir Zi's temple, only when you have succeeded. You must gather into groups of equivalent learning. Failure av iakvi."[16]
…

"You have proven your knowledge. You shall be allowed within the Temple. But be warned, the mistress sleeps still. Guardians, Wards and defenses against intrusion remain active. If you are true to the Iakvi Liviliakti then you shall reach her crypt. Wake her, she will welcome you, sister."[16]
…

"There, make your sacrifices to awaken her. Should you fail... then I shall be forced to rid these halls of your presence. Pray to the Iakvi Liviliakti that you do not fail."[16]

Additionally, when the quest was first completed, a global message appeared:

For a brief moment the scent of a fetid, decaying swamp assails the senses. A visible ripple can be seen around Dereth and the islands. As quickly as the wave arose it is gone, and a voice carries on the wind, "Ekta vaik av kintiku, ia avtu ikni livaik ekta ukri! Tik Vaiktu Kiktij, ikni zirku zikt Bur av akri. Klia mijik av iaktik, ikni iak av ixk."[16]

Post-Shattered Coil Era

Players had attempted to translate the new Falatacot, but were not completely successful. After asking the developers for some hints, it was revealed that the person who created the language, Orion, had left the AC team, and the computer files containing the information regarding his Falatacot dialect were lost. With this in mind, none of the newer Falatacot words or sayings should be considered when attempting to translate.

During the Under Cover of Night event, Vissidal island and the Temple of Xik Minru were introduced. Vissidal is a Falatacot word that translates to Summer Palace.[17]

High Priestess Xik Minru wields a sword named Vaikiakvi. This weapon has the inscription:

Ikni vaik iv avki av likvi. Ikni Vaikiakvi yikva ikni avki.[18]

Later, during the Remembering the Past event, two named doors appeared as partof the the Messenger's Collar Quest. The door to enter the dungeon was called Ikzisik Tika Ri Zikma. The door to return back to the surface was called Rix Zilik.

Later still, two more islands were introduced during the Ancient Powers event. Degar'Alesh seems to be the Light Falatacot name for Freebooter Isle.[19][20][21] The other island is Nyr'leha, which seems to be the original name for Moarsman City.
