Cooling of the World
The Cooling of the World[1] was a minor ice age[2] that occurred on Auberean approximately 15,000 years ago.[3]
This ice age caused the Falatacot to flee Dereth and sail to Dericost.[2][3]
Apocrypha
This event has been called The Great Cooling of the World by players. This seems to be a carryover from Crossroads of Dereth's old timeline. Their source for the name came from Rytheran's original letter, which stated:
It was during the great Cooling of the World that we arrived.
The word 'great' not being capitalized would indicate it is not part of the name of the event, but rather an additional description added by Rytheran. Nevertheless, the name stuck.
In the Stormwaltz 2016 Q&A, Stormwaltz said that the Cooling of the World was the event that marked the end of the Arelis Eipoth (Golden Age) and the beginning of the Dericoi Eipoth (Age of Dericost).[4]
