What it is
Sense is a watch list. You type the names you care about, such as a rare spawn, a boss, a player or a portal. Sense then lists every match the game client knows about, nearest first. Each row shows the distance, the direction and the map coordinates. It sees much further than the radar, because it reads everything the client has loaded, not just what is nearby. Click a row and that object becomes your selection in game. It can also post a chat line or beep when something new turns up.
How to open it
- Click the binoculars button on the RynthCore bar, or
- type
/rc sense(the same command closes it again).
Like the other panels, it can be popped out into its own window.
The basics
1. Add a name
- Click the box that says Name to watch for (* and ? wildcards).
- Type a name, or part of one, and press Enter. The + Add button does the same.
- The name appears as a chip under the box, and the line below says
Watching for "...".
You can have up to 40 names on the list.
2. How names match
- Capital letters don't matter.
- No wildcards: the name only has to contain what you typed.
drakefinds "Dragon's Isle Drake". - With wildcards: the whole name must match.
*means "anything".Drake*finds names that start with Drake;*Drakefinds names that end with it.?means "any one letter".
Hover a chip to see which kind of match it uses.
3. Switch names on and off
- Click a chip to switch it off (it greys out) or back on. Its rows come and go with it.
- Click the small X on a chip to remove it from the list.
4. Read the results
Each row has these columns:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| (arrow) | Points to the object, relative to the way you are facing. It turns as you turn. |
| Name | The object's name. |
| Kind | Monster, NPC, Player, Portal, Corpse or Item, each in its own colour. |
| Dist | The distance in yards. |
| Dir | The compass point (N, NE, E, ...). |
| Location | Map coordinates, such as 42.1N 33.6E. This column only appears when the panel is wide enough. |
- The nearest match is at the top.
- A new match flashes amber for a couple of seconds.
- The row of whatever you have selected in game gets a teal frame.
- Hover a row for more detail: its compass bearing in degrees, its landblock and cell, and which name on your list it matched.
- The line above the results counts the matches, for example "3 matches among 1,204 objects the client knows."
5. Click to select
Click a row and that object becomes your selection in game, just as if you had clicked it in the world. If it has gone (died, despawned, or you went through a portal) since the list was drawn, nothing happens.
6. Alerts
Click the gear button to open the alert options. Both are off to start with.
- Chat line: writes a line such as
Sense: Dragon's Isle Drake 140 yd NEwhen a new match appears. - System beep: plays Windows' default sound.
Alerts keep working when the panel is closed.
To stop alerts from flooding you:
- you get at most three chat lines at once, then "and N more";
- the same object only alerts again after two minutes;
- the beep sounds at most once every three seconds.
Adding a name, or switching one on, never alerts for things that are already there. Those rows just flash.
How far it sees, and why
Sense reads the client's whole list of known objects. The client only knows what the server has sent it, and that depends on where you are:
- Outdoors: the area of the world loaded around you. That is the landblock you stand in and the ones next to it, a few hundred yards in every direction. This is far beyond radar range.
- In a dungeon: everything in that dungeon.
Anything beyond that never reaches your client, so no plugin can see it. A monster on the other side of the map won't show up until you get close enough for the server to send it.
When there's no distance
A row only shows a distance when you and the object are in the same space:
- both in the overworld (outdoors, or inside a surface building), or
- both in the same dungeon.
Otherwise the Dist column says elsewhere and the row shows the landblock instead, for example dungeon LB 01D9.
Tips
- Short names catch more.
wispfinds every kind of wisp. - Use a wildcard when a short name catches too much.
Drake*skips "Dragon's Isle Drake", butdrakefinds it. - Keep a few hunting names on the list and switch them on only when you need them. Switched-off names cost nothing.
- Turn on Chat line and close the panel while you farm. You'll see a line in chat when your target spawns nearby.
- Your list is saved in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\RynthCore\sense.txt. You can edit it by hand while the game is closed. - Hover the i button in the panel for a short reminder of how it all works.
Known limits
- It only sees what the client has loaded. See "How far it sees" above.
- New spawns take about a second to appear in the list.
- Some kinds are guesses. Doors, lifestones and other objects that aren't creatures show as "Item". Now and then a player could show as Monster or NPC if the client hasn't told RynthCore enough about them yet.
- Surface buildings and big dungeons. If a surface building's area has nothing outdoors that the client knows about, Sense can mistake it for a dungeon and say "elsewhere". A dungeon that spans more than one landblock can also show some rows as "elsewhere".
- Very broad names are noisy. A name like
*lists up to 300 objects. - Alerts at login. If alerts are on when you log in, everything already nearby counts as new, so you may get a few lines (three at most, plus "and N more").
